Today we have very special machine a 1959 Bendix do o matic automatic washing machine this was given to me my fellow collector Bob arere.

I want to thank him for giving me an opportunity to own a vintage front loader this machine story is that it was found new in a store here in North Carolina some time

I think seven or so years ago in a little town called Randleman the machine was previously owned by a gentleman named Jerry gay he's the one that bought the machine from the store it was found by another collector and by the name of Hans Craig these guys found these found three machines including this one all brand-new and a sore down there so it ended up getting passed along to Jerry

Jerry ended up buying the machine I believe and he owned it for a number of years well he passed it along to Bob I believe sometime last year and it started developing leaks so Bob said I would end up with it one day and lo and behold that day came last Saturday it's a 300-pound beast 27 inch cabinet do o matic from 1959 the master switch doesn't work I have to fix thatI went ahead and fixed everything under here the solenoid on the side was getting stuck open that was corrected and then and then that hose right there apologize and hit the wrong button was completely deteriorated so I had to go to the auto parts store this is a washer/dryer combination machine so that means it runs the wash and the dry at the same time so I'm going to turn it to about a nine minute wash

I'm sitting in a chair it's why I'm kind of rattling around it would help if I turn on the water phone down pologize so this is a load of most of normal of normal clothes and you can see it's pretty full I've got it set the hot wash warm rinse the cold rinse

I've got very little tide in here I don't see how that does see how that does you just pour your detergent in here and the machine runs I want to thank the gentleman that made this machine possible and I want to thank Bob for bringing it out here thank Jerry for passing along the Bob eventually showed up here so the front of the machine has a doors has a door boot I never filmed the vintage front loader so this is something completely new and different even for myself so please bear with meas

I try and get a decent angle on the darn but you can see that thing it actually uses water while I'm still a top-load person that thing is an exorbitant good job even on stuff that's as nasty as it is and this machine is one of the few geomatics that they produce later on in the 50s Bendix was the first company one of the few Bendix ones the biggest problem with this machine is its drying cycle is nothing like what it should have been in all honesty its drying cycle should have been a lot better that's beauty of these machines
